Most Read Authors

We all have our favorites, we all have read way many books by… so, thinking of it i decided to go to my goodreads list and check out for real who are the authors i read the most from.

So, here we are… my top 7 most read authors of all time:

8. Haruki Murakami (4 books): I gotta admit i thought i read more book by him since i own all of them, but i guess i have a way to go with him.. obviously i’ll keep reading them since he has a magnific way of expressing himself and the stories he writes are just AMAZING. A great author for those looking for something more adult than YA. (yeah, i know i said top 7 but he is too important to me, ok?)

7. Neil Gaiman & Rainbow Rowell & Seanan McGuire(5 books by each): Just put an epigraphy on my tumb about how much i love them. I think they are all so extremely talented, there wasn’t a book by them i read i didn’t like. Will i read more book by them? ABSOLUTELY.

6. Harlan Coben & Richelle Mead (6 books by each): Harlan was my comeback to reading back in the day, so i still love him and one of my all time favorite books was written by him (Gone for Good). I don’t know if i’ll ever read another book by him though since they are all sort of the same after a while… as or Richelle i LOVED Vampire Academy (Christian Ozera i mean… literary boyfriend) but i’m not there anymore, i grew up and i’m not sure it is the kind of writing for me anymore.

5. Stephenie Meyer (6.5 book): Yeah, i read Twilight and i loved it back in the day… yeah i tried reading Midnight Sun (i just had to, okay?) and it was too cringey for me so … understandng now how problematic she is i don’t believe i will be reading any more books by her.

4. Patrick Ness and Stephen King (7 books by each): Patrick Ness is one of my favorite authors of all time, Stephen King is really interesting and i love some of his books (i read) a lot. Obviously i’ll be reading Patrcik’s books for a while, he is amazing – The Rest Of Us Just Live Here & More Than This? ABSOLUTE favorites. About King is more complicated, i guess i’ll read some more, starting with The Institute.

3. J. K. Rowling (10 books): I only read the Harry Potter series and the first three companions… i’m not that interested in the now HUGE universe of HP… and seeing how problematic the author is, i’m pretty sure i won’t be reading any more books by her.

2. Cassandra Clare (16 books): The shadowhunter chronicles are way too many books… i haven’t been reading for a while so i put them aside until i catch up with other readings but i love this world and the characters so i will be coming back for more. Also, i own almost every book so, why not?

And number one is…

.

.

.

.

.

  1. Rick Riordan (19 books): I started reading Percy Jackson when they started to come out and have been reading everything he published uo until the Trails of Apollo, mostly because after so many books i got a little tired… but i guess i’ll finish them too eventually. My favorites were the Magnus Chase and The Kane Chronicles though, maybe because those were just trilogies and they left you wanting more, not like the Pery Jackson series that felt…. neverending, though i understand this one was the last. I think he did something and became problematic? I’m not very sure, but if you know what happened with him let me know.

T5W: Books Series That Got Better

1. Harry Potter by JK Rowling

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)

I’m not saying the first book wasn’t good, because for me every Harry Potter book is great but i have to admit that when you reread them a few times you can see how JK Rowling gets more and better into the world and the story with each book… Also, Harry Potter is like wine it gets better with age.

2. Half Bad Trilogy by Sally Green

Half Bad (The Half Bad Trilogy, #1)

I have to say it… The first book was a little difficult to get into for me the first time around but i pull through and then the second and third book were perfection and i’m in love with this trilogy.

3. The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater

The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle, #1)

I love The Raven Boys both the biys and the book but i gotta say that as you keep on reading the following books it gets even better ?? Honestly these books are so amazing, i love them.

4. Percy Jackson series/The Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan

The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1)

I have to say that though i really enjoyed the Percy Jackson series i didn’t like it as much as i love the continuation, Heroes of Olympus… May be because it’s more middle grade going into young adult, but i enjoy the latter much better than the first series… I don’t know, Uncle Rick’s books just keep getting better.

5. The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1)

I may be cheating a little here because i haven’t read the last book yet but… Like, the first book was really enjoyable and good but then the story got even better ?? So much better, i totally love those books and i’m sure the last one will be awesome.

What series do you think got better with each new book release?

T5W: Favorite Science Fiction & Fantasy Books

As always, topics for these entries are taken from the Top 5 Wednesday group on Goodreads. The group was created  Lainey. Now the group is under Samantha’s moderation, you can find her here.

Top 5 Wednesday: Favorite Science Fiction & Fantasy Books

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)1.) Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling

This one is a must. Obviously, since i grew up with this series, it’s very close to my heart and it means the world to me, so it’s not a surprise this one is one of my favorites, right? Harry Potter has been there for me in my best and worst moments and because of that, and obviously because it’s an amazing story it owns my heart forever and always.

Half Bad (The Half Bad Trilogy, #1) 2.) The Half Bad Trilogy by Sally Green

I feel like not enough people talk about this trilogy, and it is such an amazing story, i truly don’t know why people aren’t talking about it.

I started reading it about three years ago and i fell in love with it almost immediately. Seriously, these books have such a fantastic story and a very jaw dropping ending. I adore it with all my heart.

The Son of Neptune (The Heroes of Olympus, #2) 3.) The Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan

Little warning; huge Rick Riordan’s fan here.

Seriously, i love all the books he publishes. The Heroes of Olympus is though my favorite series, ot that i don’t love all the others. But the Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus characters and story are my life.

Son of Neptune (2nd book in the HoO series is my favorite book of them all).

Ready Player One 4.) Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

Oh my god. When i first read this book i became completely obsessed. This is such an amazing book, i love it. Like, i think everyone should give this book at least a chance.

Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1) 5.) The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

The newest addition to my science fiction/fantasy favorites. I haven’t finished the series yet, but i totally love it already.  Sure, i’ve been avoiding the fact that i haven’t read the last book in the series yet, but i’m pretty sure it’s because i don’t want it to end or disappoint me.

Well, those are my favorite science fiction/fantasy, what are yours?

T5W: I’d totally watch that show.

As always, topics for these entries are taken from the Top 5 Wednesday group on Goodreads . The group was created  Lainey. Now the group is under Samantha’s moderation, you can find her here.

Top 5 Wednesday: I’d Totally Watch That Show

Yes, who hasn’t dream about their favorite book series, trilogies or any book related thing to come to life as a tv show?! I know i do, a lot. Being tthe huge fan of books and tv shows as i am, this is the best topic to talk about especially when the fall tv’s season ks about to start.

Now let’s talk about it!!

Half Bad (The Half Bad Trilogy, #1)The half bad trilogy by Sally Green.

I’m obsessed with these books, okay? So, who do i pay for them to start casting actors for the characters? You see i believe there are two characters the world needs to meet, one is from these books; Gabriel Boutin. The other one is from a series i’ll talk in a minute. Yes, i need Gabriel and in my mind, everyone needs him. Also, obviously the story of the books is thrilling and amazing, i think it’s time for it to become a tv show or at least a movie. Magic, war, representation, and a lone half blood. I tell you these books are great. NOW GIVE ME MY SHOW.

The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle, #1)The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater.

The other character the world need to meet is obviously Ronan Lynch! Ha! Another amazing book series that would look fantastic in my tv as i watch it over and over again. No, seriously though no one thought about making this series a tv show? The books have one of the most original and unique stories.  Aw, now i made myself want this show too much.

The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1)Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan.

Okay, i know this one had two terrible tries as movies. Still, even though many things didn’t work in the films, my first worry was the fact that you can’t really put all the information from the books in a movie, this series deserved better. In my personal opinion it deserved a tv show.  I realise it may be pretty pricey because of effects and all, but there are ten and now even more books that can be put into a lot of seasons and also a spin off for Magnus Chase. I mean, it’s a great saga. Please someone save it.

Mr. Mercedes (Bill Hodges Trilogy, #1)The Bill Hodges Trilogy by Stephen King.

One of my *non-YA* fiction books is Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King. This being the first book of the Bill Hodges trilogy is the main reason i want this to be a tv show. Honestly, these books are amazing and adaptations of Stephen King’s works are great for tv shows and movies. Let’s make another Stephen King’s book into a tv show, this time, Mr. Mercedes, Clemence deserves to watch Brady Hartsfield on her screen each week, thank you.

Alive: The Final Evolution, Volume 1Alive! The Final Evolution by Tadashi Kawashima.

This one is one of my favorite manga series of all time. Sadly enough it was never adapted into an anime or a dorama. I thought it would never happen because 1.) the mangaka passed away so i don’t know anything about the rights to the series 2.) it is an *old* manga. I still have no idea about the first fact but now many old manga are being revived (see Parasyte and Berserk for example) so, why not this awesome manga?! I mean,  pretty please? Seriously this manga was my all time favorite for a very long time. Now i have many all time favorites, but.. Adapt this into an anime, please!

Well, that’s it for this week’s topic… what are the books you want to watch as tv shows?!

T5W: Books I Want to Read Before the End of the Year

Top 5 Wednesday: Books I Want to Read Before the End of the Year.

Holding Up the Universe Holding Up The Universe by Jennifer Niven.

From the author pf my favorite standalone book ever (All The Bright Places) we are getting another YA book this year! I’m so excited! I love her writing simplicity so much, i cannot wait for this book… i already ordered it even if it won’t come out until October. I just… i really need this book in my hands and i’m pretty soon i’ll read it the moment it come to my hands, like All The Bright Places last year.

End of Days (Penryn and the End of Days, #3) End Of Days by Susan Ee.

I read the two previous installments of this series this year and i totally loved them, so i’m hoping i get to the final book on the trilogy before the end of the year. It would be pretty ironic if i don’t get to it before the end of days (of the year). Also, i’ll be pretty pissed with myself, because i was supposed to read three trilogies this year and i haven’t finished even one yet…

The Hammer of Thor (Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, #2) The Hammer Of Thor by Rick Riordan.

Yes! Another book by Uncle Rick is coming out this year and i’ll be first in line to read it ASAP. Like, seriously, i’m really counting the days before it comes out! I totally loved the first book of the series last year, so i’m really looking forward to  this one… i miss Magnus  (both Chase&Bane) and Hearth and Samirah and Blitz! Man, i loved all those characters so much i cannot wait to read about them more stories!! I need this book now.

Rebel Belle (Rebel Belle, #1) Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins.

Don’t know i really feel i need to read this book before the year ends. Like seriously, i don’t know why.. i just know i do, i do … i need just to be on the right mood.. and maybe it gets to be the beginning of my second trilogy to be read this year.

Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel (Star Wars) Catalyst by James Luceno.

Since this is a prequel for the new Star Wars movie coming to theatres this December (Rogue One) i really need to read it before i get to watch the movie. It is coming a month before it, so i’ll be having plenty of time for it… Oh man, i want so badly to know the characters for the movie already! i cannot wait any longer for this books to come out!! I already ordered it, so i’ll be reading it ASAP.

Well, those are my MUST READ before the end of the year!! I truly hope my moods are in sync with this because or else i won’t be able to read anything tumblr_inline_ndns4kUN461rk7l06.

Well, that’s it for today’s topic!!

Man, i’ so fired up right now, i need to have these books with me already,.. i need to read them!!!

Top 5 Wednesday: My Babies.

Jason Grace from The Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan

I feel like a i’m the only person that likes this dork. I mean, yeah, he is kind of dorky and all but he is such a good soul, even if he feels important because of his dad. Many people complain he doesn’t do much, like in the last book he was always fainting and such, but it isn’t his fault, in any case it’s the author’s fault. I don’t know, … i find his character really cute, being all comprehensive with Nico Di Angelo in The House Of Hades and all, i thin khe is a good leader, maybe not the best, but he did what he could with what he had, and all that was expected from a demigod as himself… i mean.. come one, so much expectation from the son of Jupiter, give the child a break!

Ron Weasley from the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling

Haha, wherever i find a Harry Potter fan, they always seem to hate Ron,… like, Harry Potter may be the only book i have in common with people in my real life and every person that read them hates Ron… I think it’s because he is so human in comparison to some “perfect” characters in the books … like, people hate him for feeling envious of a friend that has everything he ever wanted? Okay, wouldn’t you?  or when he left because he has jelaous of Hermione and Harry – because of the locket- seriously…? i mean.. leaving for sure wasn’t a way of doing something on the matter, but hey, again, the guy it’s only human, and i think he deserves better from the readers.

Frank Zhang from The Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan

My baby. It’s not that i have to protect him from people that doesn’t like him, but more like explain to people why he is so precious… i think from all the characters on the series he is the most underrated. For all I know people may care more about Octavian than him, and that’s just.. no. I don’t know.. in my opinion Frank has so much potential, he is so brave, so true, sucha good and loyal friend, and i just don’t understand why people don’t give a damn about him! OH, how i wish he would appear in the new series, such a great background story.. such wasted potential #SaveFrankZhangFromOblivion.

Holden Caufield from The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger.

I understood people doesn’t like Holden the moment i asked someone if they had read the book… it was a while ago, after i finished it for the first time and i was in love with Holden – i used to write him letters .. nevermind – and te person was like “are you insane? that kid was a psycho” … eeeehhhmmm… i never saw it that way, and since then i had to argue with a lot of people because they all share the same idea… i don’t know. It’s weird, because his character opened my eyes to so much when i read the book, i cannot understand why people hate it so much, maybe they don’t want to hear what the character has to say and that’s why they hate him so much…

Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl

So, yeah… my last one isn’t a character but a series … i think this is sort of cheating but nevermind.

I’m one of the few people that actually really likes this series (?) … because of a bad second book a lot of people stopped reading the series, and i feel like it’s a shame because the third book and the forth one are actually really good books and they are missing a lot because of a bad sequel… and i know it was bad, i’m not saying it’s not… but really, give it another chance, because it gets so much better! and i’malways trying to tell people this, but once again, i don’t have many readers around in myreal life, so … let me tell you, these books are good, sure the second one wasn’t great, but then it’s so much better, so good… so good…!!

Anyway, those are my choices for this week’s Top 5 Wednesday, what are yours? share yours in the comments and you are more than welcome to link your own post!

As always, topics for these entries are taken from the Top 5 Wednesday group on Goodreads . The group was created by Lainey, who you can also follow on Youtube.

Top 5 Wednesday: Authors I’d Like To Meet

Well, the idea was which authors i’d like to meet if i were going to BookExpo American & BookCon sadly, since i don’t live nowhere near America i cannot afford to come to those… but! Obviously there’s a ton of Authors i’d love to meet, so here are my top 5 authors!

Maggie Stiefvater 1.) Maggie Stiefvater (The Raven Cycle, Shiver Trilogy, Scorpio Races)

A few days ago i finished reading The Raven King, and it had the most wonderful ending, so i’d really love to meet her so i could thank her for such a beautiful ending to such a great series… seriously all i want is to hug her and thank her for getting my babies together.

Jennifer Niven 2.) Jennifer Niven (All The Bright Places, Holding Up The Universe)

Raise your hand if you didn’t know All The Bright Places is my favorite book ever. There you go, now you know. So, obviously, since she wrote my favorite book ever i’d love to meet her, ask for an autograph on my book and tell her that her book is everything to me.

Rick Riordan 3.) Rick Riordan (Percy Jackson Series, The Heroes of Olympus)

I haven’t seen him in the list of Book Expo and BookCon, but he is one of the authors i’d like to meet the most since i love his books so much, id love to meet the man and the myth.

Cassandra Clare 4.) Cassandra Clare (The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices)

Since i’ve read almost every book she wrote i’m guessing i like her very much.. so yeah, i’ll like to meet her and tell her how much i love Magnus Bane.

J. K. Rowling 5.) J. K. Rowling (Harry Potter, duh!)

Another author that isn’t n the lists, but one i’d sell a kidney to meet. Her books are such a huge part of my childhood, all i want is to thank her for giving me such a magical experience. Harry Potter shaped my life in so many ways, i cannot describe how much i want to meet her. Anyone.. a kidney?

And  those are my picks…tell me about yours! Obviously you are more than invited to share your list!

Have a great day!

‘Til Next Time 😉

Clems.

The Sword Of Summer by Rick Riordan

I know i’m late to the party, but i forgot i was suppose to write this review a while ago, … I read the book back in October, when it was published and since then i wanted to write an opinion on this book…So, let’s do this!

The Sword of Summer (Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, #1)

The Sword Of Summer by Rick Riordan

Genre: Fantasy, Mythology, YA, Middle Grade
Pages: 528
Publisher: Disney – Hyperion Books
Rating: 4.5 stars

Summary: Magnus Chase has always been a troubled kid. Since his mother’s mysterious death, he’s lived alone on the streets of Boston, surviving by his wits, keeping one step ahead of the police and the truant officers.

One day, he’s tracked down by a man he’s never met—a man his mother claimed was dangerous. The man tells him an impossible secret: Magnus is the son of a Norse god.

The Viking myths are true. The gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Trolls, giants and worse monsters are stirring for doomsday. To prevent Ragnarok, Magnus must search the Nine Worlds for a weapon that has been lost for thousands of years.

When an attack by fire giants forces him to choose between his own safety and the lives of hundreds of innocents, Magnus makes a fatal decision.

Sometimes, the only way to start a new life is to die . . .

[summary taken from GoodReads]

My opinion on the book:

First of all i gotta say, Rick Riordan is one of my favorite authors, i love the way myths and gods come to life in his books. And i know many people think that he is just recycling the success he had with the Percy Jackson series, re-using the idea of ancient gods and such, but that’s the thing with his books, although they have the ‘same lines’ they are so different from one another, it’s amazing.

This time the book is about how Magnus Chase, Annabeth’s cousin discovers when dying that he is the son of Nordic God, Valhalla and all the other worlds described in the Nordic mythology exists and he has to retrieve his father’s sword.

[It will take a while until you discover who Magnus’ godly father is, but please don’t check it up before, it won’t say much anyway…]

I don’t want to get all spoilery, in case you haven’t read the book yet, so i’ll just skip to my opinion of the book in general and won’t describe the things that happen…much.

The thing i enjoyed the most in the book were the three companions Magnus had in his journey; Sam, a young muslim girl, still going  to school who also has a part job as a valkyrie, i believe she is also a demigod, daughter of one of the Nordic Gods. Blitzen, a dwarf that studied fashion at school and dreams of having his own boutique. And last but not least, Hearthstone, a deaf elf, who wants to be able to use magic, which was lost with time, as the worlds developed toward electricity and such…

The fact that the characters are more than the stereotypes you expect for them is one of the things i appreciated the most on the book. So Sam is muslim and Hearth is deaf, but they are both so much more than that, along the way we learn about the sacrifices the characters had made, and it just makes them even greater.

And so,  Magnus begins a journey, that will take him and his friends to many unexpected places and people. On the way, the four become a sort of a family, they deeply care about each other, which i found refreshing, finally a book that doesn’t have to include romance for it to be great.

The way the book is written, as many other of Rick’s books is very *friendly*, by this i mean that kids will find it attractive and easy enough for them to want to read it, while still not being/feeling to childish to older people.

Overall, the book is a fun reading, it has though a little too much information for the reader, mostly because many of us aren’t very familiar with the Nordic Mythology, so at times it may get a bit confusing.

In my opinion, it was one of the finest books of the year, it was even chosen as the best middle grade&children book of 2015 in GoodReads.

The second book on the series, The Hammer Of Thor will be published October 4th 2016 so stay tuned!
