5 Books I’m Taking With Me On My “Vacation”.

Hey there, fellow readers!

As i said in a few posts before this one, this month i’m getting surgery which means i’ll have a recovery time of two weeks before i go back to work :). As a book lover i decided to dedicate most of the time of my recovery to reading. I have a ton of books waiting on my TBR, especially on my 2021 TBR, so i decided to take some of books waiting on my shelves with me on this “vacation”.

Since it’s only two weeks and i’m a slow reader i decided on only 5 books, which were really difficult to choose because of the many books i have currently on my TBR, but i think i made great decisions and i wanted to share with you the books i hope i’ll read while recovering which are:

Larry and the Meaning of Life
Norse Mythology
Concrete Rose (The Hate U Give, #0)
Someday (Every Day, #3)
Wilder Girls
  • Larry and the Meaning of Life by Janet Tashjian
  • Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman
  • Concrete Rose by Angie Thomas
  • Domeday by David Levithan
  • Wilder Girls by Rory Power

Most of the books are by authors i’ve already read before and i love, only Wilder Girls will be a new kind of writing style for me, but i’ve been meaning to read it since i purchased it a few months ago.

*I’m also taking an omnibus version of Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Different Story* but that’s just a bonus.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Different Story, Vol. 1 (Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Different Story, #1)

I really hope i come back to you guys, and that everything goes well on the surgery… Wish me luck!

See you after the fact! ~ ♥

Book Blogger Hop | Staying Up Late To Read

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, it was relaunched on February 15, 2013 by CoffeeAddictedWriter. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

This Week’s Topic is:

How long have you stayed up to read a book? (submitted by Julie @ JadeSky)

I gotta admit i’m not a huge fan of staying up too late for anything. Seen as i’m a morning person i rather wait and read in the day.

I know books can be very persuasive, i mean…. if it’s a series you really love and you just HAVE TO KNOW what happens next, i can understand people staying too late for that, but i cannot remember doing so in a really long time.

It’s not that i didn’t do it, ever, i just can’t really remember when was the last time.

I mean, obviously i stayed past my sleeping time to read but not more than 1am, or even less. You see i work really earily and i need my sleep because otherwise i may commit a ton of mistakes and since i workwith money that wouldn’t be good.

I think the last time i stayed up until more than 1am was when reading Half Lost by Sally Green. Half Lost is the third and last book in the Half Life trilogy and that was a book the moment i started reading i couldn’t stop until it was over. Oh man, that ending, i can’t get over it after years.

If you ask me which books i stayed up too late to read, i’ll have to admit it was always the Harry Potter books, more than any other. Like the last three books were totally worth stay up for.

But i’ll tell you what. Like with tv shows that are up at hours too earily. I prefer to wake up really earily in the morning to keep on reading than staying up too late. At my age (one could think i was that old, lol) i prefer being up all day reading than staying at night, it’s just the fact that being in bed just makes me sleepy and i can’t stay up too much. I prefer sitting in my sofa and reading or in the bus. Also, audiobooks are a great way of finishing books really quickly because you can decide the speed you put to the reader, and so books tend to go a little faster.

So yeah, i don’t stay up much.

What about you? Do you stay up much to read books? Leave your comment down below!

Let’s Talk Bookish | How Has Blogging Affected My Reading?

Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme, hosted by Rukky @ Eternity Books & Dani @ Literary Lion, where a topic is presented each week and we get to share our opinions on it and spread some love among others’s opinions too!

This week’s topic is: How Has Blogging Affected Your Reading? (suggested by Mini @ Book and Corner)

Resultado de imagen de books on books on books

I always loved reading, and i always loved writing, so i guess writing about the stuff i read made a lot of sense to me.

Yet, blogging has completely changed the way i read. The most important thing is the amount of books i read now in comparison to the amount i did before i started blogging, or really blogging as i am doing these days.

Before i started blogging i would read one or two books a month, and mostly reread books i loved. Now i feel like an “obligation” to read more books, which i don’t hate, on the contrary, i love the fact that writting about books makes me read even more than i ever did.

The blogsphere opened my eyes to a lot of new content i never dreamed i could get to, i hear about new books and opinions on different bookish topics which help me become a better reader and a better person, or at least that’s how it feels to me. I learn a lot from other bloggers, and i totally love the fact that even if i bring very little to the discussion i can share the platform with so many wonderful people.

I now write stuf down about the books while i’m reading them to remember them instead of rereading all the time the same stuff.

It’s like, now that i know i have a place to share my opinions i feel the urge to read more, so i can have even more content.

Sure, sometimes i write a lot and then i have to delete the stuff i’ve written because it doesn’t feel right, but most of the time i feel safe in my own blog to talk about everything that means something to me.

Blogging opened my eyes to a ot of diversity i didn’t realize i was missing out on. I think, reading more diverse authors helped me to see the world different and outside my little bubbble. I don’t know how much do you know about me but i’m a very lonely person without much life experience and now i find myself reading about so many different ways of living, it’s insane how much i was missing.

It’s not a secret i read mostly YA books because i missed so much in my younger years and this way i get to live it a little. Blogging gives me the place to share this kind of topics i would never talk about with the people around me becuase they wouldn’t understand it. But in here, i feel like there are people out there, like me.

I don’t know if i’m still on topic…

But blogging and reading, in my head, go together. I read, i blog about it, i interact with people, i read more so i can blog more.

I love reading and blogging and i wouldn’t change it for any other hobby.

I don’t know, i feel like i went out off topic, but tis was something i guess i needed to say or something.

If you got to here.. thanks for reading!

Infinity Son (Infinity Cycle, #1)

I’m still working on going through this book, to be honest it started great but then i fell into a funk while reading it. Right now i’m doing my best to keep on reading it although don’t feel the hype for it anymore… I’ll end up reading it, but it may take me more time than expected. Still, i’m already in love with Emil and Brighton so, i’ll keep reading. Also, it is an Adam Silvera book and i love Adam, so i’m not giving up.

What Big Teeth

Oooooh, i totally enjoyed this book. It was so creepy and entertaining, i couldn’t put it down. I totally recommend it and also, REVIEW COMNG SOON!

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, #1)

This was nuts. I mean, i knew this was going to be a weird read, but i never expected what i got. I never saw the old animated movie, and i didn’t remeber the live action so this book came to me as a complete surprise. I’m not complaining, it was GREAT and so much fun, but yet so weird and unexpected. Loved it.

This is one of those times i have no idea what i’m going to read next, i just hope I get to all the books i wanted this month, because i read some that weren’t on my TBR for the month instead… I’ll probably pick up Concrete Rose this weekend because it is calling to me so much. And i only heard amazing things about this book.

Concrete Rose (The Hate U Give, #0)

Also, i really want to read Everything Leads To You already… idk… I have too many books on my TBR… WELP!!!!

Catching – Up

I think it’s safe to say Skam (Norwegian tv show i keep saying i’ll talk about here) has officially taken over all my time by this point. Luckily enough (no, not really) the show will be over by the end of the month (cries in Norwegian) after its fourth season.

However sad it really is to see the show ending, it may give me back all my free time. Now that’s a lot of time so i’ve been looking back at my tbr and i’ve been checking on all the reading i should have done but didn’t because watching Skam is a full-time job.

So, now that i’ll be back to my regular schedule, i’ll have time (or so i hope) to catch up with all those releases of the year i was planning on reading but didn’t because the Evak was too strong.

What are the books i’m planning on catching up with you ask? Well, … here are the books i’m looking forward the most to catch up with this year so far…

The Hate U Give The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

I gotta admit i’m completely ashamed i haven’t got to this book yet.  I’ve seen nothing but great reviews about this book and i started it when it got out but my head was too invested in other things at the moment… i was liking the writing style a lot, i remember and i cannot wait to go back to it. I think this will be one of the first books i’ll be catching up with these months.

Noteworthy Noteworthy by Riley Redgate

I received an e-copy of this book for reviewing back at the beginning of the year and still, i haven’t put myself to the task of reading it yet… i’m looking forward to reading the book, though, because it sounds as so much fun.

The Upside of Unrequited The Upside Of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli

I cannot believe i haven’t read this book yet, okay?? like, i remember reading Becky’s first book ‘Simon and the homo sapiens agenda’ the day it was released and devouring the book because it was so much fun and fluff and it was amazing… so how did i not read it the moment it came out? Great question… i heard it is not as good as the previous one, but i’ll be deciding it for myself as i read it asap.

Scar Island Scar Island by Dan Gemeinhart

If i recall it right, i heard about this book in one of JesseTheReader‘s videos… it sounded really interesting when he was talking about it, so i decided to give it a change.. obviously, i haven’t yet, but i’ll be working my way to it in the next few months for sure!

The Inexplicable Logic of My Life The Inexplicable Logic Of My Life by Benjamin Alire Saenz

I’d been looking forward to reading this book for a very long time, since i really loved ‘Aristotle&Dante discover the secrets of the universe’ which by the way, if you haven’t read it yet, it’s a beautiful book… but then when the book came out i read some harsh reviews and it made me step back for a while… now i’m thinking of giving my own opinion on the book, and for that i need to read it myself, obviously… so yeah…i’ll be reading the book when the time is right.

Release Release by Patrick Ness

In the last year or so, Patrick Ness has become one of my must-read any books by the author… so it’s not a surprise i’m planning on reading this one… I didn’t know it was released in May so it’s not like i was pushing it aside, i just forgot it was coming out already.. anyway, i want to catch up with this one asap, because i totally love the way Ness writes, so i cannot wait to have this book in my hands.

Nowhere Near You (Because You'll Never Meet Me, #2) Nowhere Near You by Leah Thomas

I was really looking forward for this book to be released since the very moment i finished reading the first one, ‘Because You’ll Never Meet Me’ so i really don’t know why i haven’t got to this one yet… i really don’t understand what happened… well, i do understand… Norwegian teenage-tv drama happened.. but i’m really wanting to read this book, because i remember really liking the characters so i’m really happy to be going back and meeting them again.

Oh well, wish me luck with all the catching up i gotta do because it’s not only these books that are waiting on me… I have so many books o my tbr at the moment!!!

’til next time
