Let’s Talk Bookish | Qualities Of A Book Boyfriend/Girlfriend?

Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme, hosted by Rukky @ Eternity Books & Dani @ Literary Lion, where a topic is presented each week and we get to share our opinions on it and spread some love among others’s opinions too!

Todays’s topic is: QUALITIES OF A BOOK BOYFRIEND/GIRLFRIEND? (DANI)

Do you have any book boyfriends/girlfriends?

I have favorite characters, not exactly boyfriends/girlfriends… i don’t know how to explain it, i mean, i love them a lot but i don’t feel like i would want to be in a relationship with them.

The favorite literary characters i can think about right now are:

Adam Parrish from The Raven Cycle and The Dreamer Trilogy

Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series (i may not accept the way JK Rowling is behaving lately online, but i have loved the character for ages and even her behavior can’t take that away)

Magnus Bane from The Shadowhunters Chronicles

Lena Duchannes from Beautiful Creatures

What makes you fall in love with them?

I like characters mostly because of their way of being, their story, their way particular way of being, how they manage to stand out from other characters in the books they come from.

Is there anything all your favorite book boyfriends/girlfriends have in common?

I think, all the characters i can think about are kind of magical? I mean, they all have a particular way of being and they are all related to magic in some way or another. Yes, i always wanted to be a witch, so i guess this is one of the reasons i feel personally attached to these characters. Obviously if i thought long enough or told you about different characters i like you may find i like characters with special abilities, either magical or scifi ones, like, i like charatcers who have powers in any way. Oh, how could i forget about Emil from The Infinity Cycle, and Victor Vale from Vicious.

Do you prefer they come from certain genres?

Obviously since i like characters with particular powers i take most of my favorite characters from fantasy and science fiction books.

I do have other characters i love and the longer i stay in the topic the more charatcers appear in my mind that i enjoyed reading about but then, it would take forever and i truly don’t know if i have the time to talk about all the characters i love. Now that i’m thinking about, i have a ton of characters i love. I could talk more about it if you wanted me too, i just don’t want this post to be endless.

What are the qualities you look for in characters to “love” them? Leave your comment on the topic and the link to your own post down below!

  1. Omg, I love this topic! I have so many fictional boyfriends but I am 100 sure i would never date half of them. They are usually assholes in one way or another, lol. I can’t say the same about bookish girlfriends, I would definitely want to be friends with most of them in real life.

      1. I am trying to; I don’t always have enough time to make a blogpost though. But l love let’s talk bookish, so far all topics were very engaging:)

  2. Magnus is such an amazing character!!
I have a few book boyfriends and some of them fit into that “I hate everyone but you” trope 😂 But like my ultimate book boyfriend, Jem from The Infernal Devices, is nothing like that so there really isn’t much of a theme 😂
