Let’s Talk Bookish | To Be Or Not To Be A Booktuber?

Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme, hosted by Rukky @ Eternity Books & Dani @ Literary Lion, where a topic is presented each week and we get to share our opinions on it and spread some love among others’s opinions too!

This week’s topic is: DO YOU RUN A BOOKTUBE? WHY/WHY NOT? (DANI)

I’ve always dreamed of sharing my opinions, and while having a blog was always the go to option i had the idea of starting a booktube channel once or twice.

Those were about the times i thought of opening a channel in youtube, twice. I did want to start a channel with my sister, me writing about the topics and her being the front face of it but she never wanted to. This though wasn’t a booktube channel but a mystery channel.

I guess i never really thoguht about opening a channel in youtube because i don’t like the way i look and i’ll be very self concious about it, i’ll feel ashamed of myself and it would ruin the way i portray myself in front of a camera.

Also, while i used to follow a ton of booktubers, i stopped at some point because they made me feel very insecure of myself, becuase i didn’t read enough, because i didn’t have so much to say, because they could meet with different authors and i could never.

The thing is, i feel like the biggest booktubers meet an impossible goal of reading and buying and getting a ton of books, which i could never do because i have an office job and i couldn’t stand under the demand of making so many videos, come up with the ideas, etc. For that i have a blog, i know i can write all my posts in my free time at work or in the weekeneds, and have everything prepared for next week.

Being a blogger seems a bit more approachable than a booktuber to me.

Yet, again, it’s not that i don’t want to be, i’ll be more than happy to share all my adventures, but then again, i would need to reorganize my library so it looks pretty and buy physical books more than kindle editions, so i can show them, and also, it would be in Spanish and maybe it wouldn’t reach as many people as i would want (not that i’m that important as a blogger either but at least i get to see people from all over the world check my blog sometimes).

So, will i ever open a youtube channel? Perhaps, i’m never saying no to that, mostly because, one can never know. I would love to get to know some of the people i admire in the youtubesphere, and being a youtube could be a way to do that.

I’m not disregarding the possibility of starting a podcast if i find a friend who reads and wants to do that kind of thing with me.

So, overall, i want to grow and get to more people and know new people and enjoy reading, and writing, so you never know what is waiting for you. I’ll never say no to those options.

What about you? Are you a booktuber? Would you want to be one? Leave your comment down below!

  1. I think the best thing to do is do whatever you feel comfortable with. If you want to try new things, take a slow step and find the right motivation. And keep up the great work!
