Yami Shibai – short horror stories (and some other horrors).

Hey there, everyone! Today i’m here to talk about the anime that gave me the most nightmares … Let’s talk about YAMI SHIBAI

Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories also known in Japan as Yami Shibai (闇芝居, Yami Shibai, lit. Dark Play) and Theater of Darkness is a 2013 Japanese anime series. The first season was directed by Tomoya Takashima, with scripts written by Hiromu Kumamoto and produced by ILCA. Each episode was animated in such a way so as to mimic the kamishibai method of story-telling. The series is organized into a collection of shorts with each episode being only a few minutes in length. Each episode features a different tale based on myths and urban legends of Japanese origin. (from wikipedia).

The thing that scares me the most in the world is asian horror. For some reason they are extremely good at making horrific stories, movies, series. They just have something that make it horrible. It’s not secret the only movies that left me without sleep were Japanese movies; Ju-On and Ringu. There are some things you can’t unseen.

The premise of this show is pretty simple. Short stories based on urban legends and Japanse myths. But there’s something about it tht just scared me so much when i watched the episode i couldn’t sleep for days after.

I know it may sound stupid coming from a show that is so simply made, that doesn’t have the best animation of all time, but let me tell you…the stories are just disturbing.

I’m now recalling the ones that gave me the more chills and i feel like i won’t be able to sleep tonight.

It reminds me of the horror asian comic that i just couldn’t stop thinking about when i first watched it and that to this day when i walk alone at night i still think about it… did you ever heard about it?

For some reason i can’t understand to this day, even thinking about it gives me the chills, it is called : Bongcheon-Dong Ghost.

The jumpscare in it was just too much for me, i guess. At the time i was scared very easily…

Anyway… The point to this post is to recommend this kind of horror, because it’s the best horror. I’ll go to my grave and beyond saying asian horror and mostly animated asian horror (though manga is great too) is the scariest. If you really want to feel some terror this halloween you have to give animated horror a chance. I really think you can get some really good scares fro mwatching Yami Shibai and looking for horror webcomics.

Let me know if you give these a chance! Leave your comment down below!
