Horror Books For This Halloween

We are almost there! It’s almost Halloween and i thought it will be a good idea to share some horror books to read on the very day since Halloween is falling on a Saturday, hence having the time to read a good book.

I’ve been looking for interesting horror books to recommend you and myself for this time of the year so here are some of the best rated horror books according to the internet.

House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski

According to many this is one of the most terrifying books of all time. Starting out with a simple premise, a house that is bigger on the inside than on the outside, but it spirals into unreliable narrators, typographic mysteries, and a lot of little details that make the reader doubt its own understanding of the story.

The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson

Said to be a perfect work of unnerving horror and the best haunted house story ever written. I know Netflix made an adaptation of it and most people really loved it.

IT by Stephen King

Often said to be one of the masters of horror, Stephen King wrote this one after flying sitting next to a guy dressed as Ronald McDonald. Anyway, because of this book many people are really afraid of Clowns. Having been adapted twice, for television and cinema, it is said to be one of the most traumatizing and horrible stories.

Dracula by Bram Stoker

The myth, the legend, said to have given nightmares to people for ages, Dracula is by far one of the greatest Vampire’s stories ever. It was adapted so many times for tv and cinema, it without doubt one of the greatest horror stories ever.

The Shining

The Shining by Stephen King

Get lost in the halls of this terrifying hotel alongside the Torrance family. Another iconic book by Stephen King. Adapted to the cinema by Tanley Kubrick. You can enjoy both and tell me which one you liked most. Also, there’s a sequel called Dr. Sleep, though i wouldn’t recommend as much.

We Have Always Lived in the Castle

We Have Always Lived In The Castle by Shirley Jackson

Another one by this master of gothic horror. The unsetteling story of two sisters, and uncle and the isit of a cousin. It is one of my al time favorite books, i would totally recommend, also a few years ago it was adapted to a film which was pretty good too.

  1. You should read Dark Harvest by Norman Partridge. It’s a great short story that captures the essence of Halloween night for those of us that grew up in a small town in the north.
