T5W: Books I Won’t Be Reading [Anytime Soon]

So, this week’s topic was “books I will never read“, but i don’t think there’s really such a thing since my reading needs and likings are always changing… so right now i may not want to read some books but i may want one day… so, for today’s topic i’ll be naming books i won’t be reading anytime soon, but maybe someday.

Siege and Storm (The Grisha, #2) Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo.

So, i read the first book and though i did like it, i’m not sure i’ll get around to reading  it anytime soon, mostly because there are books i enjoyed more than Shadow and Bone and i prefer to make time for books i really enjoyed and ones that look very promising… yet, i’m pretty positive i’ll want to finish this trilogy one day.

The Name of the Wind (The Kingkiller Chronicle, #1) The Name Of The Wind by Patrick Rothfuss.

I’ve heard nothing but great things about this book and i really want to get to it one day,  just to this day i’m having trouble with immersing myself in high fantasy, i know that for me to get immerse in it, i need to start reading these kind of books, but right now i’m really into Contemporary YA and urban fantasy… so for now it’ll have to wait in my TBR.

House of Leaves House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski.

I read great reviews of this book,  but they all commented also on how creepy and scary it is… yes i love to be scared, but mostly when there’s light outside and most of my reading i do at night, so this combo isn’t working at the moment for me, still i’ll be waiting for when i’m braver than i’m now and so be able to actually read it.

When We Collided When We Collided by Emery Lord.

I really want to read this book, but i don’t think i’m emotionally ready for it, so it sits in my TBR for now, because i cannot let it go, still every time i look at it my heart aches and i’m afraid i’ll break it if i try and read this book…. someday.

The Divine Comedy The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri.

I tried reading it, but it was too difficult for me, so before i give this classic another try i’ll read a bunch more of other classics, hoping one day i’ll be able to get into this one, which according to my understandings it’s very interesting and full of insights… i don’t know, i really want to be able to read it… i hope one day i get to.

And.. those are the books i won’t be reading anytime soon! What are the books you’ll never read?!

Reminiscing Monday #14: Restaurant City

Monday’s here, which means i’m bringing you once again this section, where i talk about Books, Shows and Movies i’ve read/seen a while ago but because of reasons i haven’t talked about them in the blog before.

Here i’ll review mostly from the feelings and impressions these left in me back in the day and what i can remember to this day.

Restaurant City by Playfish

Resultado de imagen para restaurant city One of my goals in life right now is leaving Facebook for good. The main problem i have with closing my account is the fact that I’ve spent so many hours playing the stupid games it has, i feel bad for letting them go.

Yes, i’m the one person that keep playing the games after they stop being trendy, but no.. i don’t send requests to people i know aren’t playing.

Thinking of that i remebered the one game i spent most of my time playing from 2009-2012, yes, i spent like three years logging in every single day to get all the goodies and stuff…

Like honestly, i loved this game, it was an addiction.

I remember i started playing it a few minutes a day, like, okay, i’m waiting for something to load so i’ll play a little, but it became more and more time consuming as they started adding stuff you could get for your restaurant. It was riddiculus, i could spend about 3 to 5 hours a day trying to get stuff for my restaurant, and i would think it was well spent time.

What the hell was i thinking?

Resultado de imagen para restaurant city
I was so invested in the game i owned every possible thing

Luckily for me i might have invested my time, but not money on the game because even though it was a lot of fun and everything it was closed in 2012.

Wow, i cannot believe it was such a long time ago…

I mean, at the time it was everything, it was i think the first game i played on facebook and the one that started the madness, to this day i still try a lot of the games, bwecause i’m hoping to find one this awesome… But no, they aren’t that good anymore…

Okay, not that it was such a great deal, i had to find vegetables and different ingredients to make different dishes and just let my workers do everything else, like i would just give them shifts, but still, i loved it so much.

If i recall right (which i may not) the last level it had was level 90, like, you would level up by making money, so it wasn’t that hard, and i was the final level for like forever and wouldn’t understand why couldn’t i level up anymore, only to discover now that the company that made the game was bought by EA and they destroyed it and then closed it 12.

I’m never getting over this.

But seriously, looking back, what a tremendous waste of my time. Like, EA, either you give me my time back or somehow you have to pay me back because i spent a lot of my time and life in this game WTF.

Now that i think about this i feel such an idiot for spending all that time on decorating my restaurant and adding unknown to me people to facebook because they played the game and that way we could trade ingredients.

My gosh, what was i thinking?!

Seriously, never play these games if you can avoid it… now i’m stuck with other two games…and i don’t know how to stop myself from playing them every day.

What a waste of my time.. well, it’s not like i have much more to do anyway.. but still…. what the heck!?

Save me from myself.

‘Til Next Time 😉

Not A ‘Good Reading’ Year [thus far]

We are about half way through July 2016, so i figured, i can already talk a little about how my reading is going this far.  Now, i’ll talk about both sides of my reading, meaning the amount of books and how much i enjoyed them.

My goal for the year, i wanted tove a doable goal, i set it at 60 book, which means 5 books per month. Pretty doable right? Right. As of today i already read 74 books and i’m trying to get to the 100 by the end of the year, just because it seems like i can do it right now.

You may think, ‘then you are doing fine, Clemence… how is it not a good reading year?’.

So, let me explain this;

When i started this year i knew it will be a difficult one. 2015 was an amazing year, i had it difficult to choose my favorites because there were too many of them. Out of the 105 i read last year i LOVED at least 85, like a lot.

So, when 2016 started i was worried i wouldn’t be able to find good books as all those again, at least not that much… this far i’d been right.

It doesn’t matter how many books i read, i cannot find *the* books. Like, yeah

Like, yeah i might like them, but they don’t change my life (with only a few exceptions) and it feels really sad… I feel like yeah, i can finish reading those books but i would totally rather find books to fall in love with, the kind of books i will reread a few more times.

I’ m really trying to find these *amazing* books, i just cannot find them… and it is making me lose hope. This far i’ve been trying but i’m scared of the big reading slump that may come because i cannot find books i really love and enjoy.

So, here i am… still hoping to find books, and maybe because of that i’m writing this, to ask you guys if you could give me some books recommendations, and i mean books that really made an impression on you. Pretty please?

I’d be forever thankful.

Will be waiting for your recs!

‘Til Next Time 😉

Bloodline by Claudia Gray

Bloodline (Star Wars)  Bloodline by Claudia Gray

Genre: Star Wars, Fantasy, Science Fiction.
Pages: 352
Publisher: Lucasbooks
Rating: 4 stars

Summary: When the Rebellion defeated the Empire in the skies above Endor, Leia Organa believed it was the beginning to a lasting peace. But after decades of vicious infighting and partisan gridlock in the New Republic Senate, that hope seems like a distant memory.

Now a respected senator, Leia must grapple with the dangers that threaten to cripple the fledgling democracy—from both within and without. Underworld kingpins, treacherous politicians, and Imperial loyalists are sowing chaos in the galaxy. Desperate to take action, senators are calling for the election of a First Senator. It is their hope that this influential post will bring strong leadership to a divided galaxy.

As the daughter of Darth Vader, Leia faces with distrust the prospect of any one person holding such a powerful position—even when supporters suggest Leia herself for the job. But a new enemy may make this path Leia’s only option. For at the edges of the galaxy, a mysterious threat is growing. . .

My opinion on the book:

First of all, the fact that it was a prequel to The Force Awakens had me really excited and i was really looking forward to read it.

In this book, we meet an older Leia (than the one we know from previous movies) and we get to see her as a senator but also, we see how much she wants to come back to the rebel days when she had missions and risked her life.

There are a few storylines in the book that eventually become one and the same, which i really enjoyed, thou at the beginning it felt as little stories that just went one after the other for no real reason… a look closer to the story being told will reveal something much deeper than that.

I felt a little too neutral about the characters, or at least about most of them in the book, especially about the new ones. Some parts of their storylines and backgrounds felt a little rushed, but nothing that can’t be overlook for the sake of the story as a whole.

I felt a little disappointed that we didn’t get to see Luke or Ben Solo in the book, even if they were mentioned, especially Ben. Mmm,

Mmm, i know it’s on purpose because there’s so much mystery around what happened that made Ben rebel against his uncle, but still, there was a major event that i wished we could witness Ben’s reaction to it. Still, i have hope we may see that on the movies or some new book that may come our way someday.

The writing style was neat and clear, nothing out of the ordinary, to be honest, but it did it’s work in the best way possible. I enjoyed it very much actually.

I know this book isn’t for everyone, but if you are into Star Wars you may want to check this one out since it has interesting information that may become important in the saga as it unveils.

I had to mark a lot of stuff that seemed like may be important at some point, luckily my copy of the book was in my kindle, because i had to write on it.

Anyway, a fun reading, … being this the first Claudia Gray’s book i read, i think i may check out some of her original works, i do own some of them, so i may really soon be talking about her books again.

‘Til Next Time 😉

T5W: Books I Want to Read Before the End of the Year

Top 5 Wednesday: Books I Want to Read Before the End of the Year.

Holding Up the Universe Holding Up The Universe by Jennifer Niven.

From the author pf my favorite standalone book ever (All The Bright Places) we are getting another YA book this year! I’m so excited! I love her writing simplicity so much, i cannot wait for this book… i already ordered it even if it won’t come out until October. I just… i really need this book in my hands and i’m pretty soon i’ll read it the moment it come to my hands, like All The Bright Places last year.

End of Days (Penryn and the End of Days, #3) End Of Days by Susan Ee.

I read the two previous installments of this series this year and i totally loved them, so i’m hoping i get to the final book on the trilogy before the end of the year. It would be pretty ironic if i don’t get to it before the end of days (of the year). Also, i’ll be pretty pissed with myself, because i was supposed to read three trilogies this year and i haven’t finished even one yet…

The Hammer of Thor (Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, #2) The Hammer Of Thor by Rick Riordan.

Yes! Another book by Uncle Rick is coming out this year and i’ll be first in line to read it ASAP. Like, seriously, i’m really counting the days before it comes out! I totally loved the first book of the series last year, so i’m really looking forward to  this one… i miss Magnus  (both Chase&Bane) and Hearth and Samirah and Blitz! Man, i loved all those characters so much i cannot wait to read about them more stories!! I need this book now.

Rebel Belle (Rebel Belle, #1) Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins.

Don’t know i really feel i need to read this book before the year ends. Like seriously, i don’t know why.. i just know i do, i do … i need just to be on the right mood.. and maybe it gets to be the beginning of my second trilogy to be read this year.

Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel (Star Wars) Catalyst by James Luceno.

Since this is a prequel for the new Star Wars movie coming to theatres this December (Rogue One) i really need to read it before i get to watch the movie. It is coming a month before it, so i’ll be having plenty of time for it… Oh man, i want so badly to know the characters for the movie already! i cannot wait any longer for this books to come out!! I already ordered it, so i’ll be reading it ASAP.

Well, those are my MUST READ before the end of the year!! I truly hope my moods are in sync with this because or else i won’t be able to read anything tumblr_inline_ndns4kUN461rk7l06.

Well, that’s it for today’s topic!!

Man, i’ so fired up right now, i need to have these books with me already,.. i need to read them!!!

‘Til Next Time 😉

Old Friend Revisited #5: The Mortal Instruments

When did you start reading the books?

I think i read the first two books or one and a half back in 2012… but i wasn’t really sure if i liked it. Then  in 2014 i picked them up again, reread the first one, finished the second at last and read all the others… the second time around i fell in love with the series in the first book.

Why did you start reading them?

The first time it was completely by chance, i went to a bookstore and told the girl working there i was looking for finished trilogies and she told me about them, i bought then the first three books (yeah, i tend to buy books just by chance, i don’t even check if i may like them…). Back at the timei was trying to get back on the reading train, and since i had no patience for short stories where i get attached to books and they are already over, i was looking for long series and trilogies in which i can immerse myself for a longer while. So yeah, i just started reading the first book just because, i didn’t knew anything about it back then.

Did i answer the right question here?

When did you knew you love the books so much they’d become a favorite?

Mmm, the second time i started reading them, i just, there was something really on point at the time for me to love the books, i was looking for something to obsess about (…) and there were so many books, and such lovable characters (aka Magnus Bane & Isabelle Lightwood & Simon Lewis & Raphael) i just, i couldn’t put them down and i knew i was hooked for good.

How many times did you read the books?

I don’t know, because the second time around, i was so obsessed with them i read them and reread them and listened to them, those were some wild months i spend all the day all days thinking, reading, and breathing TMI..

Who is your favorite character?

I think i talk about him before because he is my biggest fictional crush, Magnus Babe… i mean Magnus Bane. He is like, asdfghjkl;; …. i don’t really have words, i totally love him!

Art by Cassandra Jean

Who is your least favorite character?

Will i have to talk about this each and every time?  … man, this is difficult, and please don’t hatebe cause of this but my least favorite character in The Mortal Instruments series is Jace Whatever. I just,… i can’t deal with him. It’s like having an allergy, only instead to a thing, having it to a person.

It’s Malec week!
Art by Cassandra Jean

Obviously Malec, since all i want is for MAgnus to be happy (??). I was watching a review of the tv show the other day and the girl doing it said Malec is everyone’s OTP on the show, on the books, everywhere related to TMI, and though i’m not sure of that, i’m a 1,000,000% sure they are mine. Like, i love Sizzy and Lucelyn, but it’s nothing compared to my love for Malec. Malec is everything, okay? i just can’t cope with my feelings right now.tumblr_inline_n61q9gT5Qa1qhdusl

Favorite book?

City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments, #3)City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments, #5)

Since there are two different trilogies that became a series,  i can choose one of each trilogy right? RIGHT?

My favorite from the first trilogy is City of Glass, i mean i commented on it already, but the first time i read the book i read it in a loop about three or four times, because i enjoyed it so freaking much. Ad for the second trilogy, my favorite is City of Lost Souls, because Team Good and Domestic!Malec and Sizzy and everything was so good, and happy and.. sorry, i’m just rereading the book and i’m too emotional XD.

Least favorite book?

City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4) City of Fallen Angels, with all the dead babies and stuff, and Camille … and … pffffffffff, i just, there are too many not nice things in that book tumblr_inline_ndns4kUN461rk7l06

One thing you just totally love;

Magnus Bane, Alexander Lightwood. I really love the idea of a group of people that fight demons to keep humankind safe. Like, i wish i was one of the nephilim, because damn, that looks just a hell of fun.. >_<, aaaaaaaaaah, i want runes to help me go through with my daily life…

One thing you dislike;

There aren’t enough more books about these specific characters. Like, i totally love that there are more books about the shadow world, but i’m attached to these characters, i don’t want new ones, i want these and i want MAGNUS, LOTS, AND LOTS OF MAGNUS.

Would you recommend it?

Mmm, i would, even though many may say that the other trilogies on the shadow world are written better and such, i think thisis the best way to start, or maybe it’s better o read them in the order of publishing really, so you won’t get spoiled… but, you really should give this a chance if you are willing to enter the shadow world, because there’s so much in here, it’s such an amazing world to join… i think many people would enjoy these books.

Any last words about the series?

Nope, i think i just said everything i had to say about it…. I’m still wondering if i answered these questions on point though… this is too weird… Yeah, well… let’s move on!

‘Til Next Time 😉
