Reminiscing Monday #2: The Perks Of Being A Wallflower

Once again i’m here with this section in which i’ll be talking about Books, Shows and Movies i’ve read/seen a while ago but because of reasons i haven’t talked about them in the blog before.

Here i’ll review mostly from the feelings and impressions these left in me back in the day and what i can remember to this day.

And This I’ll Be Talking About:

The Perks Of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

The Perks of Being a Wallflower
I totally love this cover.

I remember reading this book for the first time when i was 20. My roommate at the time had read it and thought i’ll like it, so she gave it to me to read. At first, it sat about two weeks until i actually decided to pick it up and read it.

The moment i started reading i couldn’t stop.

There’s something that really touched me in Charlie’s character, some of his thoughts were as mine and i felt a strong connection to him.

The moment i finished it, i immediately started reading it again.

The story is pretty simple, it’s  teenager writing letters to someone unknown (aka you), telling how his life is, the difficulties he has interacting with people, the friends he makes and everything that happens to him. The book deals with mental illness and has a glbt subplot with one of my favorite characters of all time, Patrick ‘Nothing’ Grogan.

It’s been a while since i read it last, and thinking about it i should reread it,.. but still i remember a few quotes that whenever i think of them they give me chills, because they are so powerful and beautiful.

In my opinion, this is a book that every teenage and young person would enjoy, it has a little of everything, love, angst, humor… honestly would’ve loved to read the book when i was younger, and still the timing felt perfect anyway.

So, since i’m running out of words to describe how much i love and think hte book is great, i’ll leave you  just with my word that this book is worth a read or a couple of reads…

Also, i totally forgot! The movie adaptation of the book was incredible, since the author was such a big part of the production of the movie, it stayed faithful to the book while adapting a little to the big screen, it was totally awesome, and it’s without doubt, one of my favorite movies adaptations.

So, what’s left to be said? a great book with a great movie adaptation, go check it out if you hadn’t yet!

‘Til Next Time 😉

  1. This book is so great, and I totally agree that all, or at least most, young adults or teenagers would enjoy it. It’s been so long since I’ve read it and this post made me want to reread it soon! Also, the adaptation is obviously fantastic.
