January wrap up

The first month of the year is coming to an end…. it was a pretty good one, to be honest, i  managed to do some serious reading, a total of 8 books, 3 comic books and 2 novellas and a play.

So, let’s revisit it all.

Homeroom Diaries by James Patterson  Homeroom Diaries ♥♥

I’ve already talked about this book in the review i wrote about it at the beginning of the month, which you can find here [x]. So, to keep it short here, i’ll just say that when i saw it in the bookstore it booked so much fun but in the end i didn’t enjoy it much.

This Is Where It Ends by Marieke Nijkamp This Is Where It Ends ♥♥♥♥

When i decided to read this book i never expected to enjoy it as much as i actually did… i wrote a review for the book, you can find here [x]. This book is a little harsh, becuase of the topics it touches, butthey are incredibly handled, and because of that i think people should give it a chance, they are in for a great reading!

Star Wars by Alan Dean Foster Star Wars: The Force Awakens A Novel ♥♥♥♥

Well, the movie was great, and the novelization follows the same path. Practically it’s running the movie in your head for a little longer than 2 hours and having some deleted scenes,  feelings and thoughts that can’t be put in a movie. In the book we get a little more of Poe Dameron (thanks so much for this) like, how he survived the crash in Jakku and how he managed to come back to the resistence. It’s a pretty great book, i enjoyed it very much, mostly because i was so obsessed with the movie at the moment i couldn’t get it out of my system, it helped me to get through the difficult times.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets ♥♥♥♥

Last year i decided on rereading Harry Potter, so i just kept going with it. It’s been a while since i read the books, but i find it amazing to still remember little comments and a lot of minuscule things that happen on the books. It was, as always a fun read. Like, you’ll think that reading a book you read when you were 11 will feel dull after 14 years, but nope, that doesn’t happen with Harry Potter. Yeah, i may not have the excitment i had the first time i read the book, mostly because i know and rememebr what will happen, but there’s a different excitment, a good one in rereading a beloved book.

The Amazing Book is Not on Fire by Dan Howell The Amazing Book Is Not On Fire ♥♥♥♥

I wrote a complete review for this book, you can find it here [x]. The book is lovely, a complete piece of art. I think everyone can enjoy it, really. Also i checked out the audiobook after reading it, it’s even greater! These two guys totally made it with the book and audiobook, you should check it out!!!

We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson We Have Always Lived In The Castle ♥♥♥♥♥

Okay, so i wrote a review for the book, but it’s still waiting for publication, so i’ll talk a little bit about the book here.

This was so far the greatest book i read this year. It i sso dofferent from the style and kind of reading i do normally. I took it because i thought i could be a refreshing way of starting the year, reading something different and i completely fell in love with it. I loved the characters so much, especially Meericat and Constance. I don’t know how to describe the reasons i loved the book so much, it’s just that amazing. To my all time favorites.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban ♥♥♥♥

Continuing rereading Harry Potter chronologically, i love this book so much. I already talked about the idea of rereading the books, so here i’ll just say that i got so emotional when we finally get to meet Sirius. Oh Sirius, i love him so much. When i started reading the books this one was my favorite, and i totally understand why. I still remember i got it for my 12th birthday, and i was so incredibly happy. Oh man, i love Harry Potter, so much.

The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oakes The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly ♥♥♥♥

I’m like, wow.. i just finished reading this book and i want to write a review for it, so you stay put it’s coming.

The story is about a girl that was part of a cult, where her hands were cut off. Now, when the cult crashed and she faces some stuff she did in juvie we get to see the life she is learning to have and the one she did have before. Amazing and powerful storytelling. I’ll leave it there for now. Review coming soon.

Shattered Empire #1 of 4 by Greg Rucka Shattered Empire Volumens 1-3 ♥♥♥♥

The story of what happened after the end of episode VI. It’s pretty neat to have this to read, because it a little bridge between episodes VI and VII. I enjoyed it much, although i didn’t finished reading it, i still have volumen 4 waiting for me. The Damerons are in there! Oh oh! I love Poe’s parents, they are amazing.

Also, i want to say i totally loved art, it’s incredible. Like, you see Princess Leia as a comic character but it totally reminds you of the real actress without losing the comicish thing… amazing.

The Course of True Love [and First Dates] by Cassandra ClareBorn to Endless Night by Cassandra ClareShort Novellas – The Course of True Love (and First Dates) and Born to Endless Night ♥♥♥♥

These two were rereads, because all the Shadowhunter fuzz made me very happy and we’ll get to see my OTP together! yay! Malec is my favorite! So, i decided on rereading some happy moments of theirs. Good short stories for Malec’s fans.

Macbeth by William ShakespeareMacbeth – Classic of the month.

So, i can’t believe i managed to read a classic this month, but i did! Yeah! this was the first time i read a Shakespeare’s play and i gotta say i expected something different, like more commands or something. But the story is compelling, not for nothing it is still *alive* to this day. Anyway, he was a little b****, but a one that’s fun to read about. Now i wish it was a novel…did someone rewrote it as a novel? If not, does the universe want me to do it? I did it wit what happened previously to Antigone… yeah well, me and my fanfiction… what?!

‘Til Next Time ;).
