Post of Shame

Last November i went a little overboard buying books, by the end of the month i managed to buy about 38 … to that moment it was a very low point in my life as a shopper, i always thought i was in control of myself, but apparently i wasn’t.

December was a buying ban month in which i managed to handle myself and stop the madness… but, as the month and year ended my ban was gone from my conscience and all the [minimal] control i had over the need of buying books and my bank account was gone too…

So, here we are now… by the end of January … and because of the huge amount of books i bought this month, i decided to try something different than the ban, … this time i’ll put myself to shame presenting you with the list of all the books i bought this month, next month i’ll do the same, in hope the idea of everyone know how many books and which books i bought will stop me from buying so much [may the odds be in my favor].

My Opinion On The Book:

Okay, so honest time; before i read the book i’d never watched a video made by any of them. Obviously i knew who they are, my tumblr is always full of gifs and art of them, but lke never really thought it…

Now, after reading the book i’m pretty obsessed with them.

So let’s talk about the amazing book, yep i went there.

The book is a recount of their experiences before becoming youtubers and their lives, all the crazy stuff that happened since then, ideas they have, little moments, fics they wrote, etc.

The way the stories are put, all the stuff they share in the book is pretty great. I enjoyed their way of writing, their styles … they are hilarious. But they also talked truthful, i mean… by reading the book you can feel the way they truly invite you to see a little more deeply their world.

I was greatly impressed by the way the book was presented, the photos and their ideas were incredible, also it gave me hope that one day if you make things because you really love them you can truly succeed. I learned and enjoyed it a lot.

In my opinion any person can read and enjoy this book, even those of us that don’t know them, the book is so self explanatory by the end of it you’ll feel as if you knew them a long time.

It is totally one of the craziest, funniest books i’ve read in a very long time!  Great reading!!

Now, if you haven’t watched their videos, this is the moment my child, you go to check AmazingPhil & danisnotonfire what the heck are you waiting for?!

*the gifs do not belong to me but to their rightful creators, sorry i don’t know how they are and i can’t give them full credit :(, if they’re yours please let me know so i can give you the credit.

T5W: Disappointing Eye Candy (books that looked beautiful, but were awful).

The Invention of Hugo CabretThe Invention of Hugo Cabret

Description [HERE]

Oh well, we all know this book looks beautiful, it gorgeous and so different from others.. i personally never really felt an extreme need to read it but it looked so good i bought it without thinking. After a while having it sitting in my shelf for more than two years idecided to read it, but as the title says… it was eye candy, yes.. but i was left feeling a little disappointed of the story.

Description [HERE]

Yeah… werewolves are like my favorite creatures but even then i couldn’t bring myself to enjoy this book.. it was just… not meant to be for us.

This is Not a Test (This is Not a Test #1) This is not a test

For some reason i totally love the cover of this book, also for some reason the name of it made me think this could be totally awesome. It wasn’t. The story was missing so much in my opinion, i finished on one sit only to be already done with it.

Zeroes (Zeroes, #1)Zeroes

Description [HERE]

I really don’t know why the cover of this book calls me so much, but i like it a lot, sadly last year when i read it i wasn’t very sure about the content of the book… i’m still not sure if i’ll read the sequel, i guess we’ll have to wait until it comes out (this year?).

Poison Study (Study, #1) Poison Study

Description [HERE]

Wow, i love this cover so very much, i’m fairly sure i bought the book only because of it.. yeah, i didn’t read what it was about …

The thing is .. is not that the book is very disappointing, i mean it’s pretty alright, but that’s the problem, it’s just alright and i’m not sure if i’m willing to commit to a book series that to this day has 5 books and that i could stop reading after the first book not caring about wht happens next to the characters … although i may still give it a chance to the next book… we’ll see as the year passes by …

And, that’s all for this top 5!  If you do like the books in my top, please don’t take it personal, it’s just my humble opinion on the matter! if you do like them and think i should give them another chance you can comment on it!

So, what are the books that you expected more from  than you actually got?! Leave your comments!

‘Til Next Time 😉

Old Friend Revisited : The Office (US)

Last month i was feeling under the weather, i spent a lot of time at home, so i decided to rewatch one of my all time favorite tv shows, The Office.

So, what’s the office all about?

The series depicts the everyday lives of office employees in the Scranton, Pennsylvania branch of the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. To simulate the look of an actual documentary, it is filmed in a single-camera setup, without a studio audience or a laugh track. The show debuted on NBC as a mid-season replacement and ran for nine seasons, and 201 episodes. The Office features Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, B. J. Novak, Ed Helms, and James Spader on the main cast.

[info taken from wikipedia]

And now …

When did you start watching the show?

I think it was about 5 years ago…

Why did you started watching it?

I started watching the show when a roommate i had recomendad it to me. I was skeptic about watching this kind of comedy at first, but it catched and captivated me very quickly.

When did you knew you love the show so much it’ve become a favorite?

Pretty much after the “I’ve always been your biggest flan” joke in the pilot, i knew i had found a new favorite.

How many times did you watch the show?

I watched this show at least five times from begining to end and it never disappoints me. For some reason, for me the jokes don’t get old.

Who is your favorite character?

Most of the time is Jim Halper, but sometimes i think i prefer Dwight, … anyway, most of the time Jim.

Who is your least favorite character?

Ryan… i just hate him.

Favorite season?

Either four or five, i can’t choose.

Least favorite season?

It may be season nine.

One thing you just totally loved;

The pranks Jim was always doing to Dwight, it was freaking hillarious most of the time, the beets, bears, battleastar galactica is the best thing ever!

One thing you disliked;

I never found funny how people treated Toby, the HR guy, he was so nice to everyone, maybea little slow and such, but he didn’t deserve the hate he got.

Would you recommend it?

Yeah, i think it’s a great show, but all the people seem to not like it for some reason, although it may be because it has nine seasons and it’s pretty much a commitment, but i think you can just watch random episodes and enjoy it too…

Any last words about the show?

I don’t know… i mean, i think it’s a good show, mostly because most of its humor is healthy humor, it doesn’t go cheap, there’s only a few “that’s what she said” jokes, because there’s this character that likes them, but i believe it is good tv, not like the things that are now going on….

If you are looking for an easy going and funny show that won’t break your heart [much] i totally recommend this show to you!

Reading Habits Tag

Another day, another tag! This time The Reading Habits Tag,

[So sorry, i couldn’t find the original video/post of the tag, as always, if you know who created it please send me a message telling me so i can give them full credit!]

1. Do you have a certain place at home for reading?Mmm, not really… i read pretty much wherever i can or feel comfortable at the moment… it mostly depends on how badly my back hurts…

Mmm, not really… i read pretty much wherever i can or feel comfortable at the moment… it mostly depends on how badly my back hurts…

2. Bookmark or random piece of paper?
Bookmarks, i love them. I normally use the ones i received from BookDepository, they are made by buyers and they are wonderful!!

Bookmark 1Kelly Duncan  Bookmark 2Tze-Chiang Lim Bookmark 5Jack Henseleit(some examples)

3. Can you stop reading or do you have to wait until you finish a chapter?
I prefer to finish a chapter, but it isn’t always possible so i try to at least finish a page that ends in a period, i would hate to stop middle sentence, obviously…

4. Do you eat or drink while eating?
mmm, when reading physical books no but i don’t mind when reading on a tablet or so…

5. Can you read while listening to music or watching tv?
Actually no, i need as much silence as possible when reading really.. i know there are people who have like playlists for specific books and such and i think it’s so cool i wish i could do that too.

6. One book at a time or several at once?
Lately i’ve been reading more than one at a time, for some reason i end up reading them faster or something. I find it difficult to just read one now, mostly because my reading depends on my mood at the time and sometimes i’m not in the mood for a specific book. Although i try to have one physical and the rest in kindle at the same time, otherwise i would have to bring a lot of books with me everywhere… I also use quite a lot my audible application, although there i have some favorites i just want to ‘reread/relisten’

7. Reading at home or everywhere?
Everywhere!! I love reading in buses and such, at parks, wherever..

8. Reading out loud or silently in your head?
Silently mostly.. unless i’m really feeling the characters then i may reenact the scenes (…)by myself [….]

9. Do you read ahead or skip pages?
I tended to check the end of the books when i started but i’ve been just reading the book itself as it goes for a few years now :3

10. Breaking the spine or keeping it new?
I really enjoy looking at them new, but there’s nothing you can really do, it is bound to happen at some point…

11. Do you write in books?
It’s weird, i see all the people that write in books, and it seems ‘cool’ but at the same time books are sacred so why would you do that?! i case it wasn’t clear my answer is no, i don’t write in my books…nor others’ of course…

Well, that was the tag for today! I hope you liked it!

‘Til Next Time 😉
